Home sales volumes peaked in 2005 before home prices reached their apex of about $255,400 in early 2007. Residential real estate values have been decreasing since then to about $167,000 for late 2008, reaching levels last seen in 2006.
Orlando offers a wide variety of real estate. Its sprawling reach has led visitors from the congested Northeast to call it "affordable". Single-family starter homes under $100,000 remain available.
There are numerous large condominium developments in downtown Orlando. Many decent houses are cheaper than condominiums in the same neighborhood.
