There are nine churches of various denominations. There is one hospital in Kissimmee, Osceola Regional Medical Center, but there are three within a short driving distance. Also, the average travel time to get to work is about twenty to thirty minutes. The closest airport to Kissimmee is in Orlando. There is an Amtrack Station located in Kissimmee and of course there are taxis and public city bus service.
One nice thing about living in Kissimmee is that the city is close to several large attractions such as Disney World, Sea world and Universal Studios. The city itself has a large water park, is the home for spring training for the Houston Astros and is home for the Jim Evans academy of Professional Umpiring.
It is a very safe city for it's size. The crime rate has fallen considerably since 1999. The crime rate in 1999 was 795.7 and now it is 418.4. There are 127 officers to protect the community.
The weather for Kissimmee is 60 degrees in the winter and about 80 degrees in the summer. There is heavy humidity year round with heavy rainfall occurring in the summer and fall. Kissimmee has an above average tornado season.
